The Hay Shed Hill Wines

BLOCK SERIES WINES

Hay Shed Hill is one of the pioneer vineyards in Margaret River, planted in the early 1970’s to the grape varieties that have made Margaret River a world renowned winemaking region; Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.  The Hay Shed Hill vineyard is an outstanding site combining the attributes of fully mature vines with distinctive soil type and the mild weather conditions of the area to produce some of the best fruit from the region.

The Hay Shed Hill ‘Block Series’ of wines are made from single parcels of fruit from designated blocks selected as the best grapes on the property, with hand crafted care in the winery these wines are a fine interpretation of an outstanding site.  These wines showcase the best of the vineyard. Old Vines Modern Wines.

Block Series range: ‘Block 1’ Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, ‘Block 6’ Chardonnay, ‘Block 2’ Cabernet Sauvignon, ‘Block 8’ Cabernet Franc and 'Block 10’ Petit Verdot.

HAY SHED HILL WINES

This grand old vineyard produces grapes of great aroma and flavour concentration, whites that are distinctive in their varietal expression and reds with true concentration and textural complexity.  The Hay Shed Hill wines are vineyard selected and nurtured in the winery to allow the true character of the site to be expressed.  Only the best fine grained French oak is used to protect the integrity of the fruit. White wines that is bright and clear with fresh varietal fruit expression.  Wines in which the fruit character is the primary expression with any other processing influences being background aromas and flavours that complement, not dominate, the inherent fruit.    I like my white wines to shine and have crisp lively palate acidity.

Reds that are vibrant and vivid.  The old vines produce low yields of ripe fruit full of fruit aroma and flavour.  These wines have fleshy fruit sweet palates with good extension.  The highlight of this old vine material is the maturity of the tannin in the red grapes, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in wine with complex textures and extended aging potential.

Hay Shed Hill range: Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat.
